Arctic Storm, Inc.(Arctic Storm) has an opening for 1 temporary, full-time Surimi/ Roe Technician. Work will be performed on board the C/P Arctic
Storm vessel operating off the coast of Dutch Harbor, AK in the Bering Sea and North Pacific.
Duties: Separate roe from intestines; harvest roe without damage; sort roe as to size, quality, and color; grade roe according to established Japanese/ Korean standards; pack roe in boxes; inspect roe to confirm quality after it has been frozen; conduct sensory tests on the incoming fish by feeling and checking the size of the flesh, and feeling the paste of the Surimi at the end of the line to confirm that it passes the eye test in terms of texture and color.
Must have 24 months’ experience as a Surimi Technician- prior experience must include working with all technical aspects of Surimi and production, including the various Surimi and roe grades/quality specs for export to Japan and Korea.
All final applicants who are offered employment will undergo pre-employment drug testing as a condition for employment. Any offer of employment is contingent upon that applicant passing a drug test. The employer will direct the applicant to proceed directly to the designated collection site to provide a urine specimen for testing .Background checks are performed on all potential employees. The applicant completes a background check authorization form as part of the application, and the background check is initiated once employer has elected to interview a potential employee. The background check is completed by a 3rd party company in accordance with the FCRA regulations. The drug screening is done once employer has elected to hire, or ready applicant for the reserve processing crew. Employer will offer 40 hours of work per week (7 days in rotating shifts from 6:00 AM-6:00PM and 6:00PM-6:00AM) with up to 44 hours of OT depending on fish availability, during the Pollock B season from 06/11/2018 through 11/25/2018.
Worker will be paid no less than $22.00 per hour, plus potential for a discretionary bonus. The discretionary bonus is paid 45 days after the conclusion of the fishing season. Overtime is paid at time and 1/2 and is $33.00. Health insurance is offered.
Employer will provide room and board on the vessel Arctic Storm at no cost to worker. Employer will make all deductions from the wage required by law, and will make no other deductions from the wage other than voluntary deductions requested by the worker. Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to the workers reimbursed, if the worker completes 1/2 the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. The employer will provide worker at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
